The goddess of the dawn is known as Eos in Greek, in Roman as Aurora and from the Rigveda as Ushas (dusk and dawn twins). They continue the name of an earlier Indo-European dawn goddess, Hausos. According to the Greek poet Hesiod’s Theogony, Eos was the daughter of the Titan Hyperion and the Titaness Theia and sister of Helios, the sun god, and Selene, the moon goddess.
