It’s tiring to have only a single month to celebrate women and women’s history and the same with black history month too in February. But it’s what we got, so I am embracing it. This issue of the magazine celebrates women stepping into their power, and we take a moment to consider some of the atrocities against them. There is mention of the imbalances that create deadly circumstances for women and their defining characteristics. The problems won’t be solved here, but a glimmer of light will be shone upon the darkness through awareness.

There are inspirational passages and quotes shared for contemplation, there are vagina pants and vulvas, and the iconic Barbie takes us on an adventure in art. The aged goddess in art shows us her sagging breasts and wrinkles. Goddess pose is examined and twisted into a spider. Plus, our contributors share their expertise and continue to inspire us. Deja Osbourne the self-care expert and artist shares her picks for us from her Personal Power card deck. We peer into the isms with Helen Sanchez, and Christine Boyd Miller takes us on a journey with her experience in The Yoga Diaries. There’s a lot to take in and explore in this issue.

Here’s a final thought: Humans are ugly, weird, and beautiful. They are simple and complex and often resistant to change. Most of us harbour some fear that makes change hard. But change comes. The winds of change are always blowing. Let’s help direct them towards a world where we can transcend labels by practising tolerance, compassion, kindness, and empathy.

Thank you for being here and supporting this work.

Namaste,
