My brain slowly moves from one state to another, sometimes unaware and following the rhythm, the ebbs and flows of daily life begin. Each day it is not only the light that wakes me but the song of the birds and the change in the temperature and air. If we pay attention, we will notice subtle changes, feeling through our senses especially at dusk and dawn. This is daily life.

The daily life of a bird, a dog, a cat, a plant, or any living being on earth changes each day with the light. The morning brings together a murder of crows. They depart and go about their day, later to meet again in the evening before returning to their resting place. The sparrows' chirp, and the pigeons coo. The dog rises and stretches with her paws pressing lightly but audibly on the floor. The dawn chorus begins. This is daily life.

Then there are moments in time - days when the sun and the moon dance in the sky and eclipse one another, or there are equal parts light and dark as the seasons change. Whatever the cycle of nature we are experiencing at the moment, we can recognize them. Light casts shadows, both co-exist simultaneously. This is daily life.

Darkness, the vast empty space that makes the light of stars possible, comes. When I am present, I take notice as the seeping midnight blue turns black even though it is less so in the city. Later as we settle down to restore our bodies, we enter the void, sleep comes. This is daily life.

Darkness is by no means the mere absence of light it is the origin. The vast abyss, seemingly infinite, it is the place of creation and transformation, from the formless to the form. The sun still is shining even when we cannot see it. This is daily life.
