Not your everyday cornbread recipe is an easy recipe. This one is rooted in tradition and it’s so easy to make too. Bazlamaca Croatian cornbread is moist and delicious and requires only 25-30 minutes including baking time! Serve sliced plain cool or fresh out of the oven with or without butter!
Delicious and moist corn bread!
Ingredients
- 1 lb / 450 grams of farmers or creamy cottage cheese
- ½ cup / 120 ml sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ tsp. Salt
- ½ stick / 60 grams butter
- ½ cup / 120 ml of corn meal
- ½ cup / 120 ml of flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ pint / 240 ml of sour cream (or yogurt)
TIPS:
Feel free to replace the dairy products with a single type, a combination or whatever your heart desires or needs to be used from your fridge. Our personal fav is farmer’s cheese.
If you want vegan corn bread – replace the butter and eggs with sunflower or another vegetable oil and omit the cheeses and creams.
Add water as needed.
Directions
Mix together the dry ingredients.
Add remaining ingredients.
Mix well.
Pour into a pan that is lined with baking paper or a greased pan
Use either a rectangular loaf pan or a 9×9 in or 20×20 cm square
Bake 20-25 minutes at 220C/425F
